NO AGE - WEIRDO RIPPERS
(bandana, Tee Shirt & album bought at their show in a bar basement in Paris (no, not the Pop In, it was at La Mécanique Ondulatoire near Bastille - fantastic name for a bar by the way, but the bar and especially the sound in its basement are, sadly, not so fantastic)
still loving (very heavy rotation)
PANDA BEAR - PERSON PITCH
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE - STRAWBERRY JAM
ANIMAL COLLECTIVE - PEACEBONE single (with the amazing SAFER)

I remember getting that track as a filler on a bootleg & thinking
"I know this song, oh my god I know this song, how embarassing"
Then, ages later, it was released on a compilation (diamond tracks or nova or some other french release) and it got reviewed in a french paper (Libération?) & the guy said something along those lines: "andre herman dune takes a cult gay song & turns it into a beautiful folk gem" |

jack fe - i don't think it fair to compare, really. well, i kinda do. but i like jeff's version because it is done in a style of someone who would play an open mic - it has that acoustic rawness. The herman dune (if it's the John Peel version) is slick and i'm not sure it fits the message so well. Both are awesome anyhoo! |

Yeah, I know what you both mean.
The original is so great for it's simplicity. Thats why I LOVE that whole album. But it's so nice to hear it turn into a huge party. _________________ myspace.com/frozymusic |
