You bet it doesn't, i would prefere if the chords were like the 4 smaller on a guitar, i can play back when i was four on yuk tho, it's just that i remember how starting learing guitar was frustrating, and i don't want to live it again ! NEVER ! yeah you heard me !

Listen to some George Formby songs for inspiration. He's a ukelele legend!

By the way, I'm not being sarcastic, I really do love George Formby. I even once went to a double bill of his films.

George formby didn't play the ukulele he played a Banjolele which is slightly different.

I just got given a ukulele for my birthday about 3 weeks ago, i've found that the best thing to do is to play songs with simple(ish) chord sequences and using this site http://www.ezfolk.com/uke/chords/ work out which chords sound best and try and remembers them.
that's as far asi've got so far anyway.

just did some breif research on wikipedia and apparently a Banjolele is tuned the same as a ukulele so george formby songs would play the same on either but sound different.

Ok, apologies, I may not be up on the technicalities, but I think it's perhaps called a banjo-uke and is someehere between the two instruments. But George did sing a song called 'With my little ukulele in my hand' (which is as filthy as it sounds) which may have caused my confusion.

The double bill of George Formby films was in a cinema called the Plaza in Stockport. It's an old cinema that's recently been restored, and when you go it's like being back in the 1930s - they show old films, have organ music in the interval and there are usherettes in uniforms selling ice cream from trays. It's a slightly odd experience.

it is weird, there is an instrument that combines a mandolin and a banjo as well called a banjolin. I think it the the method of amplification that makes the "banjo" bit of the name. i.e. a skin stretched across a wooden frame, rather than a hollow wooden box with a sound hole in it.
