Howdy from New York!
Thanks for making this board and supporting my buddy Jeff! Both Jeff and Jack Lewis are two of the nicest and most gifted people I've ever known. I've seen them work relentlessly to continually crank out fresh songs and artwork, much of which doesn't make the documentation phase.
Your encouragement and enthusiasm, wherever you are in the world, helps their cause. It's harder then ever to be a functional artist in this city, but they are hanging in there.
When the Jeffrey Lewis Band comes to your town, they are squeaking by on a low budget. Nothing would please them more than a little help from a new friend. Whether it is a car ride to the next city, or a floor to sleep on, they are great folks to sponsor. If the thought of bringing your favorite rock star home intimidates you, let me set you straight: The brothers Lewis and company are the most honest, polite, and unrowdy guests possible.
I befriended Jeff back in 1998 when he started attending open mike nights around town. We hang out a lot and have collaborated on quite a few projects together. There is a mutual respect, I think. We have been known to cover one another's tunes from time to time. I recently had the honor of playing on 'City and Eastern Songs'. It's a pretty cool record and I think Mark Kramer's production really compliments Jeff's style.
I wish you all a great Christmas and Hannukah and a lucky 2006. If I accidentally left someone out, reply and I will address you personally.
Love,
John Kessel

dear john,
i would be very happy for jeff and jack to stay at my place in cardiff, wales for as long as they liked. maybe they could teach me a thing or two. it would be a joy to put them up and they can drink as much tea and eat as many bacon sandwiches as their stomachs desired.
absolutely adore city and eastern songs. everyone i introduce jeffs music to they immediately become hooked, hey can i get some reward? for every new fan i bring on board can i get £1.97? haha |

awww that's so nice greg!!! ...to tell the truth, i hardly can imagine how an artist i really admire, could sleep at home, this sound so insane, like a dream, you know, like when you were a teen, hoping that the band could come home after the show to have a drink or something to eat...but of course it never happened!!
i actually have a moutain of regret cos when i saw the jeff lewis band , i did not know that information,i could not imagine that it could help them cuz... it would have been a pleasure to have guests like you guys at home! |
