Hi, just a quick post about this year's Indietracks festival, which will be headlined by Edwyn Collins, Herman Dune, Jeffrey Lewis, Crystal Stilts and The Hidden Cameras.
The festival takes place on the weekend of 29-31 July at the Midland Railway in Derbyshire, UK.
Around 50 pop, indie and folk artists will be playing at the festival across four stages: the outdoor stage, the indoor stage, the church and the steam trains themselves. The festival will also host a range of art and craft workshops and a selection of discos after the bands finish. Guests can also have unlimited rides on the steam trains!

I'm really looking forward to this festival I went last year and thought to myself "I would love to see Jeffrey Lewis play here" there are accoustic sets in the guards van at the back of the steam train while it drives up and down the tracks - I would really love to see him play in there, but I fear he will be too popular, on one of the stages will do nearly aswell. A great wee festival though |

I'm going as well, and really looking forwarding to it. I've not been before, but the combination of indie music and steam trains seems too good to miss. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/arhythmicnick |

Still feeling a bit churlish about having missed some great music at Indietracks this weekend, knew it would be a bit of a challenge keeping 3 self-willed toddlers stationary for long enough to see much music, but hadn't anticipated that they would crusade against sleep day and night and mortify their parents by yelling continuously in a crowded campsite for what seemed like hours at night (sorry anyone who heard us - we were trying I promise). So Jeffrey Lewis and the Junkyard were viewed from a distance - amazing show, wish I could have been closer and not concerning myself with my daughter who was filling spectators shoes with sand when not trying to eat it. Great to hear Time Trade(?) again, should replace the traditional hymn in school assemblies, and the covers were amazing, all on top form and a glorious set from Herman Dune for which I was blissfully free from dependents. Just wish I was vaguely musically talented as rather in awe of the collaborative performances and then I'd feel I had a good enough excuse to say hello when I saw JL dashing to the merch tent.
Missed Crystal Stilts annoyingly although couldn't miss their pop star presence about the site - what was their show like? Felt the legacy of the Fat Tulips, lots of classic indie pop all about the place so for me wouldn't have been the same without JL & HD although it was great fun having the added dimension of the railway and all the vintage transport, (think Tootles the Taxi) and the staff were the friendliest bunch of people at any festival, really lovely thanks!
As I can't sneak off to Oxford tomorrow as all sold out, hoping you'll fix Bristol into your October schedule, sure that would also cheer up AFB, MissHelenC et al...
Enjoy the rest of the tour and don't upset the authorities in China.
PS Did the band really swap all that local brew for Stella?! |

That would be perfect! Feels like ages since I saw a full JLB show (not counting the tour with Peter Stampfel) I was hoping a sneaky appearance at the End of the Road fest this year, but at least we have Herman Dune for that.
I felt the need to mention the fest as I just realised it's only a month away - anybody else going this year? It'd be cool to meet some people from the board. |

Hello AFB
Yes we'll be there, you'll hear us I'm sure. We usually shy away from the throng of it and hide up the top of the camper-van field. Possibly legitimately for the first time this year as we have just become the new owners of a great little folding caravan (more of a trailer shed really). Must be getting on as until a few weeks ago I was seriously allergic to all things caravaning. It's quite a marvel though and so much easier to put up than our gargantuan canvass frame tent, probably lighter too.
Is the HD 'secret' officially out the bag? I am guessing it will be a Thursday night slot which if so means 4 nights of camping which is a little hardcore for my liking with the smalls. Please put me out of my misery if they are playing later in the weekend.
Be good to say hello. Took my bottle of Hendricks all the way to Indietracks and didn't even manage one G&T.
Goodnight! |
