It sounds like pretty good quality, not live. I don't know, I thought it'd be mentioned here if it was, but whatever.

Sorry, I haven't a clue... but I just wanted to ask, how long does it take to describe eternity? =)

I'd guess that's the version from our 4-song Daytrotter session in Rock Island, Illinois. There IS a studio version, from a yet-unreleased batch of 13 songs recorded in an analogue studio in Manchester, UK, but because it was all recorded analogue I'll have to make some time to get back to Manchester to get back into the tape reels and sort out what's on there and figure out what to release and what to mix, etc.

Hmmm, I'm very excited to hear this studio version Jeff! As soon as any new material gets announced, I'll be sure to get my hands on it ASAP. And Kris: my username is a reference to a Built to Spill song called "Randy Described Eternity". They're an awesome band if you're into 90s indie rock.

The studio version probably isn't too radically different from the Daytrotter session version... just a different one-take recording with some different people, tho I guess the Daytrotter version is solo and the one I recorded in Manchester is with some other folks joining me. But that's the thing with the internet, by the time you put something out on an album there's usually already multiple different recordings easily available to hear! Also I'm pretty slow to put albums out.

I've heard of built to spill, and I know that I'm supposed to like them, but I've never given them a proper listen. .... Going YouTubing right now. Thanks =)

(Edit: Wow, ok I can name a few bands off the top of my head that were probably influenced by these guys)

Yeah, I think that there was quite a bit of mutual influence between BtS and Modest Mouse. Those are easily two of my all time favorite bands.
