While I fully intended to go, even had a funny valentine for Jeffrey, mother nature would not let me out the door, blowing 40mph winds in my face and freezing my ass off with 18 degree F temperatures, hail, sleet, snow and ice. That did not stop Jeff from performing and braver people than I from going to see him.
Jeff shared his set list with me and some notes about the show
"The set list wasn't particularly out of the ordinary, the things that made the show interesting
were the controversy over the opening band CHing Chong Song, I like them a lot so I asked them to
play the show with me but the Asian Society of NYU organized a protest because of the racist
connotations of "Ching Chong" - it was a crazy scene, apparently there's a dialogue about this
currently at the antifolk message board at www.OliveJuiceMusic.com tho i haven't had time to check
it out and add my two cents - the interestingness of my own set was the instrumentation because i
had old friend Jason Rabinowitz on bass, Dave on drums, old friend Damian QUinones on keyboard,
melodica and recorder, which made some of the songs sound different than usual. THere were
valentine's cookies and cakes and paper hearts to write messages on and tape to the walls, a lot
of NYU students, a nice scene, it was sort of in a dark lecture room on the 8th floor. Set was
something like-
