Well, I will leave the review of Jeff Lewis band's set to those with more experience (only my second time seeing them), but I was baffled at seeing the TV Personalities performance. I was embarrassed and I cringed at the behaviour of their lead singer (Dan Treacy I think?). Perhaps this kind of thing is part of the show, and some people there seemed to be getting a kick out of his aggro, but I didn't like it.
Drunken beligerence is all well and good when you can back it up with unquestionable talent (i.e. Shane MacGowan), but misplaced cockiness (from years of revering fans probably) after falling over twice was just cringeworthy. I'm sorry for his patient band who played very well, but Dan was off-key, out of time and virtually incoherant. If that is what people like about TVP's, then I am surprised. I can only assume they haven't always been like this. The people who laughed and hooted when he shouted obscenities down the mic probably thought they were part of something memorable in the annals of rock history, but it wasn't so. Jeff and co. joined in for one song so they obviously weren't too underwhelmed, although he made some light digs at their set later on. Perhaps I just didn't get it.

Dan's acts is noa ct.
It's awfula dn disturbign,
he is an odl drunk man.
the past TVps albums, for the past 20 years have all been pretty good.
especially thei'r early stuff,

I rarely reccomend doing this, but i suggest getting a best of.

there weren't that many people laughing at hsi antics.

it was sad and depressing.

what did you think of jeff's set.
did you notice us fighting?

he asked me to get off hsi stage after the second song. he was outraged I played bass on a sogn he aske dme to play keys on. he also told me not to sign and I did any way.
I wans't trying to make the sogn sound bad, in my egotistical mind i was helping it sound good but he thought the oposite.
That i did it on purpose and that it sounded bad.

That's a flipping mad set! All those Tapes from the Crypt songs - awesome! And a Crass cover too - lucky you! Shame about the brotherly squabbles though -- but it's certainly something I can relate to Rolling Eyes
