They're even making it to Scotland!

As an aside - what does Schwervon mean? I thought it meant "hard-on" in German. As in, erection Rolling Eyes

Well, you certainly have plenty of gigs to choose from, Moe! By the way, do you happen to know what Schwervon means?

hi....sorry

ahhhh i can`t say that "schwervon" is a word......

like schwer means in german; heavy
and von means; from

so i can`t imagine that there is a german word who describe something like that

currently listening: Julie Doirin with Herman Düne-Shady Lane(PAvement)

Well, we went (me and fabalbert).
We didn't think we could, as the pub it was in, is very strictly over 18s (because of the damn council). We spoke to the bands and they said they'd try to get us in. Rhiannon spoke to the people at the pub, and they said there was not much chance of us getting in, as they don't do underage guestlists anymore.
We got more emails from the band, saying that they'd got a message from the venue saying that it was a strictly over 18s show and there was nothing they could do.
So we pretty much gave up.

About quarter to 5 on the thursday of the gig, we got an email from nan turner, saying to come down anyway, early and they would do their best.
Se we (quickly!) ran to the train, got on one at 5 and got to the venue.
We wandered in and after a quick hesitation, we snuck in through a door to the upstairs room where the bands would be playing.
When we got there, there was just a sound guy there, and he told us that the bands weren't there yet, but we could hang around, as no security would be there for a couple of hours.
So, we waited. And waited. And waited.
When in came, Lisa Li-Lund, Schwervon and Toby. We said quick hellos, and left them to set up. Then, after a while, Lisa came out to where we were and said to me "hey, did you send me a message". And I was like "I did indeed, hello" and we talked for a while, and she said she'd make sure we could stay. We spoke to Nan Turner (who recognised Rhiannon) and she said she would also make sure we could stay. She was really, really nice (as was Lisa). We listened to them soundcheck (Lisa played 'I wish that I could see you soon', I nearly cried, it was amazing!).
When the gig started, we'd needn't have bothered with trying to get in. The guy who'd booked it was really cool, and didn't mind underage people (it was just the venue, but they didn't know!), so all was good.
Toby Goodshank was great, way better than I'd expected. Schwervon were as good as I'd expected (which was very, very good!), but we only got to see lisa play one song as we had to catch the last train. Sad
But, we did get to watch her practice a couple of songs beforehand, where just me and Rhiannon were. Very Happy
So, all in all, we had a pretty great night!

Ema and i went to see Schwervon a week ago, it was great, Toby Goodshank was also great, i discovered his music that day.
We had a cool little chat with Major Matt after the show, he's such a nice guy.
Nan was kinda sick that night so she couldn't sing as she usually does but the show was still awesome!
We're going to see Herman Düne tomorrow night! (without André Sad )

Yes, I heard a couple of days ago about Andre. It made me sad. I hope he tours with them again soon.

It'll still be amazing though! Smile

No, he did play on the latest LP, it's split half DiHD half Andre, but he decided not to do any promotion or touring for this album.
This was on the website:

"We recorded Giant Live
with Half David's songs
And Half Andre's
Andre will not contribute to any further promotion for Giant
Nor will he tour with us for the album
We want him to do whatever he chose to
So be it
I hope people will like the shows
It'll be fun
And we will have the pleasure to have Turner Cody on Bass
and the Babyskins on Tour with us
And as a support act too.
We just got the first Double-Vinyl Copy of Giant
We couldn't stop looking at it
It looks Real, man
Love what's real
Love what's here"

It sucks, but hopefully he will rejoin them next time. It doesn't say he's out of the band, and the record is half his songs, but he doesn't want to tour.
Sad

Poop. When I saw HD in Glasgow, there was no Andre then, either. I thought maybe he was ill or something. David seemed a bit down too, though that could have been the thought of having to listen to Arab Strap after his set!

So we went to the HD gig last night, with our friend Bibasse.
There were three opening bands, one that i can't remeber the name, it was ok i guess....
Then Turner Cody, it was very good, i enjoyed it a lot, he's a great guitar player and have great songs to play, a really good surprise, sound a bit like Nick Drake to me but maybe not, i don't know.
Then came in The Baby Skins, two girls from brooklyn, it was AWESOME (in my opinion), i really enjoyed it, awesome voices, great melodies, i baught their two lps Smile
And finally HD without André, it was very good, i'm not really a big fan of them but the show was awesome, the baby skins were doing the background vocals and cody was playing bass, there were cool percussions and trumpet!

The Baby Skins were the best part to me even if the whole thing was great!
