The Flood by Maggie Gee. It's your typical near-future story of apocalypitic shenanigans. |

Albert Camus - the Outsider.
Like Moe and his Kafka, I want to look brainy on buses! Also, it seems like an easy way to read about existentialism, rather than reading Kierkergaard or Neitzsche... |

'The Outsider' is the English translation of 'L'etranger'. It's one of those books everybody reads when they're sixteen and full of angst.
I'm also in favour of reading books in public to make yourself look clever. When I was a student and I had to go to the launderette each week I would sit there pretending to read Joyce while really watching the washing machines go round and round, which I always found really hypnotic. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/arhythmicnick |

I just started getting into audiobooks to listen to while i'm at work. I'm finishing up the audiobook of Homer's "Odyssey" and am reading "Maus" by Art Spiegelman. |

I've just started reading a John Fante book... all about Dust it might called... something along those lines! It's endorsed by Bukowski, which drew me to it... little more poetic, but along the same lines.
Also - Waterstones do a recycled classics thing which I only found out about the other day... so I picked up "Journey to the centre of the earth" and "Hard times" both for £2 each, on standard lime green sleeves... a great idea! |
