Right, I've got this idea, like the 'What are you listening to' thread. How about we say what we're reading right now? It can be any genre, be it music-based, graphic novels, fiction, or factual. But I'm not gonna say what I'm reading unless other people think this post is a good idea! |

I'm reading Freedom Next Time by John Pilger. It's a slightly different look at modern history and mainstream media representations of events. In equal terms compelling and depressing. Though undoubtedly conterversial, too.
Also bought Jennifer Government by Max Barry at the weekend, which I will start in a day or two probably. It's a fictitious book set in the near future where private corporations control everything, and evryone... Sounds funny! |

too bad i didn't know the guy before he died. _________________ Free signature offer at the Jeff Lewis Message Board!

im reading facing death in cambodia by peter maguire. it focuses a lot on S-21, the infamous prison, which is really interesting, and goes pretty in depth historically, but the author seems to have a grudge with noam chompsky because in at least 3 instances he bad mouths him for no reason. all in all a good book though. _________________ dont't crap out |

That sounds really interesting -- might check it out myself (though having digs at Noam Chomsky puts a downer on it!). I have a feeling you might enjoy Freedom Next Time... |

This thread (even if I say so myself) was a great idea! It's giving me lots of ideas for new stuff to read -- thanks everyone! I also find it interesting that the books people have mentioned appear quite diverse...

I just finished Ask the Dust by John Fante, which was fantastic. The book was apparently a huge influence on Bukowski.
I've also been reading portions of Karl Marx's Philosophic and Economic Manuscripts of 1844.
And the latest issue of Punk Planet! _________________ http://myspace.com/theimpossiblebuildings |

It's a comic book by alan moore, the story takes place in a city where everyone got super powers, you follow the daily routine of cops, it's very good

My girlfriend has a subscription to the London Review of Books, so I'm finding I often dip into that these days. |
