The Dome, London
Weds 07/05/25

So after two back to back 180 capacity shows in Paris tonight was a step up to 600 people at a sold out Dome in London.

Two support acts today. David Cronenberg’s Wife and The Awkward Silences who are both on Blang records who are putting out Jeff’s new record in the UK & Europe. Both have engaging frontmen and are flying the flag for British Anti-Folk.

Tonight’s set featured five songs that were not played at either Paris show. The show started with three unreleased songs with band members being added which was a cool way to kick things off.

Frogs (Solo)
We’re Just Dregs (Mallory and Valarie join on bass and violin)
Pull Back The Curtain (Title TBC. Brent now joins on drums so full band onstage)
Exactly What Nobody Wanted
The Space Alien’s Bright Idea (Low Budget Video written c14 years ago performed solo)
Movie Date (solo)
Do What Comes Natural
Relaxation
The River (written with Diane Cluck)
Amanda is a Scalap
The Great Gatsby (Low Budget Video)
The Pigeon (solo spoken word song)
Seattle
Bugs & Flowers
Sometimes Life Hits You
In Certain Orders
Adventures Of Tom Sawyer (Low Budget Video with 80s rock backing track played on iPod)
Don’t Be Upset (This was the start of the encore)
The Endless Unknown (Jeff & Mallory)
Back When I was 4 (Solo)

Highlights… Pull Back The Curtain is surely destined to be a future single. The refrain of “We’ve Searched and I’m Searching” is now even more stuck in my head after hearing it again… Sometimes Life Hits You sounded fantastic in a big room (as did In Certain Orders)… Finally the crowd - 600 people listening attentively even during the songs they didn’t know.

This was a great show. It is rare that I see two low budget films that I haven’t heard before -Space Alien and Tom Sawyer. Both great.
I love Frogs. In Jeffrey’s Reddit AMA I asked him if he thought this was a better song than ‘we all stand together’ by Paul McCartney, also about frogs. Jeffrey said he doesn’t know that song, but if he heard it I am sure he would recognise it.
Don’t Be Upset sounded incredible, with the other three band members providing backing vocals.
And Jeffrey recommended ‘Kujo’ as a great work of American Literature. I’ve only seen the film…

Looking at the few other set lists I could find online it seems these tracks have also been played in the last two months by the latest incarnation of the Voltage - hopefully some will be on the Cambridge setlist

Springtime
The Last Time I Did Acid I Went Insane
No LSD Tonight
People Were Morons
Water Leaking Water Moving
Alan Moore (Low Budget Video)
Heavy Heart
Just Fun
Cannibal Monkeys (Low Budget)
History of the Development of Punk on the Lower East Side of NYC 1950-1975
Black Thumb

On Reddit Jeff also mentioned Whose Soul Is This had been rehearsed

Half Man Half Biscuit fans have a very complicated game where they predict the songs being played in the next gig
