I recently went to a theater and watched the new movie Don't Look Up and I thought it was the best movie I've seen in a long long time. I can't even remember the last time a movie hit me like that. But it seems like it is getting bad reviews and nobody cares much about it.
I don't want to reveal anything about the plot (I knew NOTHING about the movie when I walked in to it - that's the best way to see anything!)... but has anybody seen it? I wonder if anybody would feel as strongly about it as I did. |

Its released on Netflix on Christmas Eve, so plan to watch it then. I've seen positive reviews here in the UK. They're calling it a satirical comedy. The premise of the movie sounds good - there was a scientist speaking on TV who said he could relate to the way the scientists were depicted and received by the media in the movie.
Thanks for the recommendation. |

I think it will lose some of its impact if seen at home vs in a big screen theater, but with the sudden big virus surge maybe nobody is going to movie theaters anyway.
I think a lot of the people who don't like the movie, or give it bad/mediocre reviews, are complaining that it's not funny enough. I didn't go in expecting a comedy, I went in with zero expectations or knowledge or context, and I didn't think it was a comedy, I thought it was the scariest movie I've ever seen. Satire is the right word. |
