Of the records I bought on the recent USA tour a couple of the favorites so far are the new Arthur Russell release "Iowa Dream" (okay I didn't really buy it, it was a gift) and the 1960s Australian garage rock band The Missing Links...
Also the Miles Davis album "On the Corner", I don't know much about jazz but this is pretty cool and sounds a bit like Can at times. |

Its interesting that you compare this album to Can. On this album Miles was influenced by Stockhausen, who also taught Can-member Czukay. I hadn't noticed the similarities when I heard it. I've only listened to the album once, and wasn't impressed, but perhaps I'll try again.
On the subject of unexpected musical links, who would have guessed that Nico appears on a Tiny Tim record? She provides vocal interjections on Then I'd Be Satisfied with Life from GBTT album. |

THat's a very interesting Stockhausen connection, I don't know any Stockhausen stuff but I know he's famous... and it could very well be the case that that's the source of the similarity/influence that I sort of hear between On the Corner and Ege Bamyasi! |
