The new promo video for the song LPs is great fun.

https://jeffreylewis.bandcamp.com/album/lps

Young Jeff with braces. Jeff with long hair again. At the doctors...
They appear to have had fun making it.

Looks like there might be a new bandmember. Or is that just for the video?

Really happy with the LPs video, so fun to make! That's Greta Klein, who performs as Frankie Cosmos, as guest keyboard player.

Please tell me those walls full of records aren’t your personal collection?! It is a great video I’ve played it to everyone I’ve seen this week (2 people) and they loved it too. I’m still thinking about the idea of ‘disease’. Usually diseases are only negative but collecting music clearly has positives. The world health organisation says addiction is a disease. But an addiction is only that when it negatively impacts your day to day life. I don’t know I’m rambling but these are the things I’ve been thinking about.

Yeah maybe it's a bit too flippant for me to toss around words like disease and addiction when I"m only making a silly song about records!
All those records in the video are my own...!
All the CDs too!

Even the room at the end which is full wall to wall?! Wow, that amount has to classify an addiction! I think all things humans get addicted to feel nice to a point or we wouldn’t return to them. Maybe a record buying addiction is just a good one on the spectrum, on a par with caffeine or something. I suppose it doesn’t give physical symptoms. I can just imagine waking in the night in a sweat with the need to buy some music so bad you can’t mentally cope. Don’t worry about the words, I’m just reading things into them that aren’t there to begin with! Plus it’s a nice rhyme! X

Sorry I was confused about your question, the walls of records at the end, in the "corridor of mountains of LPs", that stuff is NOT my apartment... that's the basement of a record store in Brooklyn!
(The OTHER stuff in the vid, with the shelves that are rapidly filling up with records, that stuff is my apartment.)

I didn’t know most of the records but liked looking at all the different types of covers. Still enjoying the video, I’ve been playing it on you tube rather than band camp so it gets lots of hits on there. I know record companies look at these things x

What would have been your dream record label Jeff? Even one from the past.

I guess the best one to get on in the USA would be Matador, that seems the like most respected "indie" label... But I figured I really wasn't big enough for that, unless I just got weirdly lucky. I thought Merge could be a good option, but I wrote them over and over and they never wrote back.
But hmm, best label of all time to be on? There's some cool ones... the weird offshoot UK labels in the early 70s, where the big labels would create side-labels to put the strange stuff. Vertigo, Harvest, Dawn, those would be such cool and atmospheric and special labels to be on. So artistic and interesting. They had some big hits, like Black Sabbath (Vertigo) and Pink Floyd (Harvest), but also a lot of super-interesting great stuff that only sold very few copies, like Comus (Dawn). There's still something almost creepy about those record labels, something "underground" and dangerous feeling.
