On this upcoming UK/Europe tour this month I've made a few copies of a "Jeffrey Lewis & The Jrams Bootleg", which is a bunch of tracks recorded in the Emandee recording studio in September 2014, most of it is old songs but with pretty good live-in-the-studio recordings, and a couple of covers, I think it's a good representation of how a lot of these songs actually sound when we've played them live (for example the live versions of songs like Water Leaking or Reaching or Big A Little A sound totally different from the official studio album versions). I just figured it would be a nice thing to have as a cheap item on the merchandise tables, and I had these recordings that I didn't know what else to do with.

Will you have any of these at End of the Road festival? I'd love to buy one but can't make it to any of yr other UK shows coming up.

Water Leaking is one of my favourites too.

Jeff, have you considered selling 'The Artist Alone Decides What You Will Hear On His E.S.P.' on a future tour?

Maybe if I run out of copies of the Jrams thing on this current tour I'll make some more for the August/Sept tour dates.

No plans to do anything with that "Artist Alone..." comp.
But come to think of it, maybe it's almost time to do another message board giveaway thing!
Unfortunately I'm about to go on tour and then I'll be away from home for a while after that too. Maybe sometime this summer I'll do another Message Board Club package to mail out (if I can think of any more stuff to include!).

I wasn't close by enough to attend any of those UK dates that have just happened, but I'd also like to add to the "will you have any/make any more around End of the Road time?" I'd love to get hold of that bootleg if there was any chance of orchestrating some kind of money/music exchange drop at the festival.

I just made a bunch of these (the Jrams "Bootleg" CD), I'll put them on my website when I get home from this tour -
It's probably not super-exciting to you folks who have already heard a lot of this stuff!
But anyway it'll be findable.

The Jrams bootleg ("A Loot-Beg Bootleg") is a great album - capturing the songs at the end of tour is a great idea.

The decision to bookend the album with cover versions is novel - someone had to be first I guess...

The production is excellent - very clear, crisp recordings. My only issue is that it doesn't include "Painted into a Corner" - IMHO one of Jeff's best songs.

The version that appears on JL & the Jrams didn't capture the intensity of the live show versions - so it would've been good to hear that one again.

I'm certainly looking forward to hearing the next tour bootleg album!

Thanks!
Now I REALLY wish I'd had a chance to do a similar thing at the end of the most-recent tour, because the current 4-piece band (Jeffrey-Mem-Brent-Jack) had some really good live arrangements of certain songs that would have been great to quickly capture in a proper studio environment. For example Jack's keyboard chords on Painted Into A Corner or our current 4-piece live arrangement of Thunderstorm, or Bugs & Flowers, or the multi-vocal version of Slogans that we'd be doing on the recent tour, plus a handful of new things we were messing with, these would all have been good to document with another "studio bootleg" recording! Well, maybe it'll happen another time.
