Well, Jack and I and a couple of friends went to see the new Tarantino movie Django Unchained, and thought it was total crap - just trash with nothing interesting or smart or memorable about it at all. Obviously it's been a long time since Tarantino was actually GOOD, like True Romance/Dogs/Pulp, but at least Jackie Brown/Kill Bill/Inglorious/Grindhouse were somewhat enjoyable as stupid/fun movies. At this point it's just devoid of fun, and also SOOOOO long! Like 3 hours! Argh, what a waste. But on the other hand, Jack and I are also the only two people I know who hated There Will Be Blood, everybody loved that movie and we both thought it was outrageously awful. Jack, however, is a pickier movie-goer than I am... he has very high standards... I have more of an enjoyment of bad/cult movies than he does.
Speaking of cult movies, have I already raved about the book "They Live" by Jonathan Lethem? A short little book analyzing the 1988 John Carpenter movie, it is such a brilliant and wonderful analysis, if you love the movie "They Live" you will totally love this book!!! |

I haven't seen the movie yet, i'll go see it in a week or so, i liked every tarantino flick, reservoir dogs is my favorite, i usually enjoy Z movies and that's something i like about tatantino or robert rodriguez. I'll check that book, always looking for some good reading advices. _________________ http://uberaffe.bandcamp.com |

Well, I keep reading good reviews of Django and other friends of mine liked it, so maybe Jack and I just have a harsh perspective! Maybe you'll like it more than we did. |

I don't really like Tarantino films, and seeing the man himself being interviewed makes me feel sick, he has such a big ego! Plus I am not a film person anyway, so needless to say I won't be watching this.
I did go to the cinema for the first time in over 3 years the other day though, I saw Life of Pi which was my first 3d experience and I enjoyed it, although of course the book is better.
I never really bother with films, but I do like Submarine a lot. xxxx _________________ You don’t put your life into your books. You find it there. |

hey. I didnt like it either. I'm kinda surprised by it, because somehow I wanted to like it but I think this time the whole mixtape-style tarantino usually rocks completely disappeared. _________________
