I guess I am of a certain age when a Friday night is spent indoors making fabric bunting for our twins birthday...been listening to a new acquisition though, Ghosts from the Basement, output from Bristol's Village Thing label, there is some great stuff on here amongst the pretty average offerings, the real gem so far are a Cardiff husband and wife duo, The Sun Always Rises, the track, Tales of Jasmine and Suicide. Those of you who know the Incredible String Band better than I may be less convinced of their originality though. I really like their whimsical fantasy style. Ian Anderson who compiled and produced the CD features and has a lovely quality to his voice. Will keep you posted on the rest. Meant to ask before, is Early Morning Hush (Notes from the UK Folk Underground) worth buying?
Have bought Comus tickets, think we may be the only ones in attendance by the number of tickets left for a modestly sized venue, how can this be? |

I haven't heard any of those bands you mention on that comp, but they are all talked about in the book "Seasons They Change" which I was raving about in previous posts... and the book also tells the story of that label, and the (non-Jethro Tull) Ian Anderson. |

Yes, Borderline, tickets came yesterday, really looking forward to it and nice to know that there will be at least 4 of us there...!
I'd like to take a look at Seasons They Change, searched to see if the title available through the local library network but sadly not, so may boldly go and purchase. Still listening to Ghosts from the Basement, really enjoying Tucker Zimmerman today. |

It will be lovely to say hi.
I know they've just been doing stuff from First Utterance so far, but I'd love to hear some of the pop hits from To Keep From Crying. I hope they haven't completely distanced themselves from it. Hopefully there will be a lot of people around. In in flat, we're insanely excited about it. It's a massive event.
Also, only related to your first sentence, my lady and I have spent night in making bunting, just for fun. She makes it mostly, but its just nice to have around. I'll take a look around for those albums _________________ myspace.com/frozymusic |

Well! Never would I have envisaged that there was a parallel bunting meets Comus universe. I have to agree that our room is looking pretty cheerful with the addition of said hanging, nothing wrong with cultivating the gaiety of a garden fete all year round. I do however find the word oddly embarrassing, does it go by any other name in chez Jack Fe? Bet you guys must have a pair of pinking shears which I could have done with...
I guess I'd mainly been anticipating First Utterance to dominate, will be interesting to see, not much more than 2 weeks to go, and yes would be nice to say hello, I'll take a look at your Myspace page for identification purposes. I guess that not having been there in the day is a reasonable warranty against deflated expectation/beguiling memory. I've not really seen bands after reformation other than my Bloody Valentine, if comparable. When I saw them in 2008 whilst it was still incredible to see them play live again, the emotional experience was odd as I guess I expected to feel as intense and vital as I had when I was 17 and first discovering their music with all the other exciting stuff that was going on at the time - kind of thought everyone I knew then would be there somehow too and if they were they remained invisible.
Still can't get enough of the Village Thing, might need to rescind that suggestion that there are some average offerings on there. |
