I've been really hook to this comic book all summer long.
I don't know if any of you read it and want to discuss.
The goon is a bad ass shapped like a mountain guy working with his shapped like not much pal Franckie, together they're trying to stop the evil plans of the zombie priest.
The drawing is just amazing, Frank Powell is a gifted drawer and write cool stories.
In the goon you got Zombies, giant monkey zombie, evil pulp, a playing card spider and all kind of great characters.
It takes place in the 20's i guess and again the drawing are so so so nice.
You also got a great cross over with Hell boy in an issue drawned by both Powell and Mignola.
It's a dark horse comic and you should really check it, i wished i had do it sooner.

You can have a preview there :

Also you can watch an interiew of Frank Powell there, he explains what the goon is better than i do.

I played a solo show last year somewhere in the midwest and the guy whose house I slept at insisted that I read some of the Goon comics that he had in the house...

I was skeptical because it looked like a superhero thing, and I haven't read anything other than black and white alternative comics for many years, but I was really impressed with the Goon.

I had never heard of it, but it really brought back the joy of reading comics like the original Mike Allred Madman series or the old Mike Baron issues of Badger in the 80s, a really enjoyable experience. Great art, original and unusual and fun story ideas, and what really makes it work for me is that the guy making it is clearly having a LOT of fun making comic books. It has that true independent spirit, like Bone or Cerebus, somebody who obviously had a youthful dream to make their own comic books and create their own comic world, and is now really living the dream. Inspiring!

Yeah you can tell that Frank Powell had fun doing his comic books.
I like how the stories are short and crazy fun, you never know what to expect.

I also really enjoyed the whole Walking Dead saga, really a fresh breath in the zombie universe, avoiding most of the cliché and inventing new ones.

I've been reading a lot of comic books the last years, i grow up with marvell and dc ones and i dug more deeper with Jeffrey advices and other people's.

I really like the black and white alternative stuff, i read Joe Matt's Peep Show and Spent so many time, so funny.
I also like the Ed The Happy Clown serie, mean and funny.
Yummy fur was also real good.

I read a review of the last Charles Burns comic book, seems really interesting, the story of a man having nightmares and turning into Tintin, the french comic character, i got to check if it's out, anyone read it already?

I didn't know there was a new Charles Burns... I like Black Hole but mostly just for the art, he's not as good a writer as the other guys.

Where did you find Ed The Happy Clown? It's really difficult to find right now, it's been out of print for years. My paperback collection copy of it must be at Jack's house, I haven't seen it in years! It's so good!

I have never read Blackhole, i walways wanted to buy it but the complete thing is quite expensive. I enjoyed reading big baby.

I find of a lot of cool comic books at the city library, like the Joe Matt, Daniel Clowes etc...it's handy but i really would enjoy it better in english, i always feel like it misses jokes, like a translated movie.

As i couldn't find Ed The Happy Clown anywhere, i read it online...booo!

We got a couple of nice comic store in Rennes, quite small but you can find some stuff there...one even got amercican comic, mostly super hero ones from DC or Marvell.

It's kinda tricky to get underground comic from America here, i was quite surpised to find some at the library, but i already rent all the ones i wanted to read.

There is one french comic book artist that i'm really into, he's Pierre La Police, he draw crazy stuff and his story are really weird and fun, but his comics are so so hard to find, i ask for his work in every comic store i visit anywhere i go in France, so far i only found one, got really lucky, the lady there told me that the book was there since 1992...few....
Nobody knows who this guy is, there are no info about him, he's obviously working as an alias.
