My old friend Justin has gone into the business of making iPhone apps, and one of his big ideas was to put a bunch of my old comic books into app form - This appeals to me because it saves me a lot of money and time to reprint the unfindable old ones, and also is a lot cheaper for people to buy than a print version (better for the environment too I guess?). It's a bit weird in that these comics were not originally drawn to be seen on a phone, so there's a certain amount of re-working and re-formatting and re-lettering that has gone into it, but Justin has been doing all of this work. He's even thinking of coloring some of the comics (the originals are all black and white). So far I think there's been one full book made available for iPhone users, and hopefully more to come. I don't know how many of you have iPhones that can make use of these app things but if there's any comments or criticisms let me know and I'd like to make sure any future comic book iPhone app projects are done as well as can be. By the way, if there's requests to reprint specific out-of-print comics let me know and I can let Justin know if he should be working on a certain in-demand book rather than others! I'm introducing him to other comic artist friends of mine too, like Gabrielle Bell ("Lucky") and David Heatley ("My Brain is Hanging Upside Down"), so maybe his "Lush" company of iPhone comic books will expand to include indie comic artists more famous than myself (like Gabrielle and David!).
In the meantime, I've got about half of Fuff # 8 pencilled but I haven't had time to work on it lately because I'm busy doing those comic strips for the Cribs, plus a comic for Time Out Tel-Aviv, a poster for the Akron/Family, and some work that will hopefully see the light of day on the History Channel website! More updates to come, as things progress.
Later!

I downloaded the six comics that were available on it tunes,
it's really easy to read and really nice to be abble to read the stuff i don't own, nothing beats paper but i got to admit that the iphone is really nice for comics. Laughed so hard at the mental constipation part.
I obviously want to see more out of print comics there. I also think it would be fair to charge a little something for it. (might have been a bug cos it's .79 now, really fair price...)
As for a request i always wanted to read the come to my show one or the austin diary. _________________ http://uberaffe.bandcamp.com |
