I went to see Jeffrey Lewis doing a solo gig at hinterland. It was awesome!
He covered a song about being in a band and making it and I don't have a clue whos song it was. I think it had some lyrics about Bob the bassist and his misshapen hand!
Did anyone who was there catch the title?
Thanks! |

It'll be "Ballad of Throat Culture" by the sublime Phoebe Kreutz, I reckon. It's on her Big Lousy Moon cd, but there's an even better (earlier) version on the luv-a-lot records comp from a few years back. Well worth getting for great tracks by Schwervon, Herman Dune, Toby Goodshank, Yoko Kikuchi and loads of your favourite anti-folk stars!!
Not heard Jeff's version but I look forward to it.
"Wish I was in a band
Being a solo singer makes me blue
So if you want to join my band
Here's what i can offer you.. " (from memory, sorry) |

Damn! That's one of my favourite songs! I can't believe Jeff is playing it. Phoebe is so wonderful. _________________ myspace.com/frozymusic |
