A while ago i saw a post on this forum posted in 2005, about what everyone thought would be on the next album.
Of course everyone was wrong cause no one expected an album of crass covers!!
So as we now all feel like we could be closer to hearing a new album of Jeffrey material, and that now the times have changed and more Great Jeffrey Lewis songs have been created, what does everyone think will be on the next record?
i feel that songs such as Wildflowers and Objectified might make an aperance, and of course the album will be well balanced with some livley more punky songs, so deffinatly Wait it out will be on there
But who knows!
Please share your thoughts!
ps. im new to this board! Ive been reading it for like 2 years now, but only just decided to sign up and contribute! _________________ http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3006/2501926108_65f54395f7.jpg?v=0

hola silverwood, as you said it's pretty hard to guess what's the next album might be.
Jeff made a post here a few month ago explaining that they recorded a bunch of songs in New York but as always the songs changed as they play live.
I haven't saw Jeff Lewis Band live since a year so i don't really know the new songs, too bad no lilve shows surfaced on the internet, they are so many good songs that were played live since the last lp, roll bus roll, upside down cross, wait it out, objectified, i pick the winner and a lot more....my only guess will be that there will be folk tunes with amazing lyrics, punkish songs with sci-fi lyrics and a bunch of songs we haven't heard yet.
I guess it's pretty hard for the guys to surprise us due to all the info we share heren but i'm pretty confident that they'll surprise us anyway. _________________ http://uberaffe.bandcamp.com |

wow was it really 2005 we were talking about that?! it didn't realize it had been that long - damm we're in need of this new album!!! i don't think I can speculate now... will it be an album of the stuff Jeff said they recorded for an album back then or will it be something newer? theres been a few new songs at the live shows lately and the energy has really picked up now they are playing new stuff after the epic crass tour so maybe they'll be more in favor of recording some newer stuff? who really cares its gonna be great - its a Jeff Lewis record!! What would be your ideal play list on the new album Silverwood? (and anyone else lol)
thanks for joining by the way and welcome to the board (even though you've been lurking for ages ) _________________

Hi all!
The new album is finished, I think! Been working on it every chance I had, between all this touring the past year or so... we had a big pile of recordings accumulated, all kinds of songs, way too many for an album - it was starting to become too many even for a double album! I proposed a quadruple album to Rough Trade but got laughed out of the office... So finally I've managed to pick about 11 songs, got them pretty much finished, though the final selection and running order are still not totally certain... nor is the band name or album art or album title or any of that! In fact, I haven't even had a chance to play the album for Jack or Dave yet, so if they hate it maybe I'll end up back at the "drawing board"...
For now I've gotta pack up some comic books and get out to the west coast to start our US tour!
Talk to you all soon!

awsome!
Very nice to hear that jeff! realy cant wait to hear it myself! After dave and jack of course.
Id love to know what the song line up so far, but i gues that would kind of ruin the whole suprise of it all!
and i love the fact a band name Stil hasnt been decided! amazing.
in reply to 'will oldman's' reply, id love to hear classic songs like If life exists, roll bus roll and objectified (objectified being one of my favourite unrecorded tracks), but also new tracks, like Broken Heart are sounding particularly Wounderful.
Any way nice news to here from jeff about the album being on its way!
Thank you jeff, its a loverley reply to my first ever post!

What is the name of the song about the racehorse I heard played live a couple of years ago, it was really good. Or did I imagine this?! |

Slogans needs to be on there. And Whistling Past The Graveyard, Objectified, Broken Heart (or is that too new?)...
They're all good. Jeff is a little too consistent. _________________ myspace.com/frozymusic |

Ah yes,
these new album discussions are really fun for Jeff and I.
It's really interesting to hear which songs people respond to right off the bat and which songs don't get mentioned at all.
There are a few tracks on the new album that sound great, but haven't got much mention.
There are a couple tracks that we disagree on. A certain guitar solo is in contention.
And one epic that I feel needs a lot more work but I'm not sure if it'll happen.
hmm ... what else.
Partly because of The Crass album we have an ever growing well of material never released. This is both great and frustrating. Sometimes we have a song that we're not sure works, but when we release it it gets a great response. And Vice-Versa.
We 20-30 unreleased songs of varyign quality, (10-15 we've been playing for the past couple years) and we only wanted to release 11-12, so hopefully we'll be able to release another album in less than a year, but who knows.
It's all up to Jeff, and sometimes he takes my advice and sometimes he doesn't. |

I put my foot down all the time,
but Jeff's foot is bigger.
Perhaps there are other easier ways for us to exist as a band. I hope so. |

ooh when i saw jeff this thursday in birmingham, he played a song called 20,000 leagues under the sea, which is apprently the 4th chapter to the si fi, zombie, set or what ever you wanna call it. the same kind of feel as time machine, if you shoot the head and journey to the centre of the earth
That was a real fun sing, id like to hear that in some sort of recorded quality! _________________ http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3006/2501926108_65f54395f7.jpg?v=0
