Un Succes fou! The place was so jammed you couldn't move. When I got there , early, someone already had a copy of the vinyl under his arm. It's beautiful, all white with floral border, so unlike the stark, dark Crass albums. 500 copies were pressed. The event was so lively and interesting it seemed to go by in five minutes though it was a long set. A young Asian girls smiled at me and said, "I really enjoy your son's music." I said, I'm not his mother, realizing I seemed to be the only one from my generation there. Jeff said his mother was "somewhere around. Crass member Joie de Vivre showed up to read a sonnet. I wasn't allowed to shoot video and was too far away to get great photos but I have some and here's the set list, Crass covers, Jeff's originals and Jack's songs. John Kessel joined in too.
1. Ramen
2.Banned from the Roxy
3.I Ain"t Thick
4. History of Communism with John Kessel (China? I forget) (low budget video)
5.Systematic Death
6.End Result
8. Sonnet read by Crass member Joie de Vivre
9. Fun in the Oven ( by Joie de Vivre)
10. Big A , Little A
11. I Saw a Hippy girl ( low budget video}
12.Wildflowers
13. Broken Song ( new Jack song) couldn't hear the words
14. Complete History of Punk on the Lower East Side
15. They Always Knew They'd Make it
16.Don't let the Record Company take you out to lunch
17.Wait it Out (Jack's Song)
18. No LSD tonight
19. Creeping Brain Pictures as Jeff sang Back when I was 4, which people requested, then decided it didn't make it and sang Creeping Brain
20. Encore: Seattle
21. Pounds--a poem
22. Another Girl
23. Time Machine

The first one is Joie DeVivre, original Crass band member, and author of Fun in the Oven. The second is the band and the crowd. Thanks Dave!

This is the crowd: diversity in ethnicity and ages, most are in rapt attention but one older guy yawns (it's past his bedtime?) Professor Louie, Jeff's fantastic rapper uncle, is under the "N" in the Drinks sign on the wall.T shirt worn by long haired guy at center has Mr. Natural, R. Crumbs' cosmic "guru" on it who says it' s all insane.
