Not easy but I think I got most of it. There are a couple of bits I'm stumped by when Jeff gets a bit excited towards the end. All corrections welcome.

When I was about to graduate school I overheard someone talking and he
Said the following words and for some reason they stuck with me.
He said to this other person, "If your sister really wants to do that whole bunch,
She can do anything she wants if she just gets a job, bites the bullet just for a few months"

He said, "Anything she wants to do she knows it's do or die.
She'll work all day, she'll live on hay but she'll get pie in the sky.
It's a bitter pill but it's just as well to know what you gotta do up front.
She'll turn to the plough, work in this town, bite the bullet for a few months"

At first I got all psyched up and then after that I knew
I'd got to open up the wine list and see what kind of bullets are on the menu
I'll live with my parents, share with my brother, bring a peanut butter sandwich for lunch
I know I can do anything I want if get a job, bite the bullet just for a few months.

It took a little while but then finally I done it.
Yeah. I circled all the phone numbers of jobs I thought that I could stomach.
I put that piece of lead between my teeth and crunch, crunch, crunch.

So after some stupid interviews I already found my jaws were getting numb
That shiny tangy gunpowdery bullet was losing its flavour like bubblegum
But I've got to keep my bullet afloat, my head above water, not let myself get sunk

The hiring department wasn't hiring though. The bank said they were low on cash.
I thought I'd do some temporary work but the thought didn't last - (get it?)
Meanwhile all my friends were hanging out, like buying beers and smoking blunts

But it's arduous, it's tortuous, it ought to be unlawful
It makes me anxious, it makes me nauseous - that bullet tastes awful.
But screw it, I'll do it. Yeah, I know that I'll go through it.
Hand me that big nasty disgusting cannonball - chew it out - chew it.
'Cos I want to go back to ???? put a comic book and album out
For years I've wanted to take a road trip and see what Alaska's all about.
So I'll get some minimum wage wage job and immediately I'll start saving up for ?????

But me, I know there is no pie up in the sky, my life's here and now,
Though someone has to cut the wheat and someone has to plough.
My work sometimes fucks(?) sometimes makes me feel alright
'Cos I can do anything I want as long as I know that there's some end in sight.
