Anyone else here at all interested in this new Transformers movie?

I was an enormous fan of Transformers growing up (the series and the comic book), and have been off and on the past six years or so. I think the original animated movies is one of the best of its kind, and I'm pretty disappointed with the state of the animated series and the direction of this new movie coming out.

any thoughts?

When I was a small child in the 1980s I liked the Transformers cartoon on TV and always wanted one of the toys, but my parents refused to buy me onesaying they were a waste of money. They were right, of course, but I didn't know that at the time. Eventually I think I got one second hand in a car boot sale or something years after they were cool. It was yellow and turned into a truck. In a similar way I always wanted a Scalextric but only got an inferior, cheaper, less cool own brand version from Tandy.

This wasn't because I grew up in poverty (as it happens my dad's a lecturer in a university) but because my parents refused to pay lots of money for overpriced crap; they refused to sucked in by capitalism. And, as I say, they were right, though I didn't appreciate it when I was seven, but now I understand. You could therefore say that in a sense the Transformers had an effect on my political development.
