Right, I've decided y'all should check out the Viking Moses, cos he's bloody bril. I went to a gig on Wednesday, and it blue my wee socks off! It was in an old Adventist church in Edinburgh -- not some hyper-modernised trendy bar, but the church as it's always been. No pews, but everything else was there, including the altar! It was BYOB too - great! So in me and my girlfriend stroll, and lo! - they're playing Herman Dune on stereo (Sunny Cold Cold Day - so good!) and I knew it could only be a great night. Err, and it was! Viking Moses played Emma's Little Smile, which is just the greatest, sweetest song ever, and like most great songs, it was based on a traditional Christian song - just think Jesus Don't Want Me For A Sunbeam (I'm not religious by the way, it's just a fact that those Christians pumped out some good tunes!). Anyway, I suspect noone will check him out, but if he does happen to play near you, you should really make the effort!

Anyway, rant over! |

I saw him again, and he was far more awesomer than before - which I thought was not possible. Twas brilliant, and he's still touring the UK, so you should all go see him! (err, perhaps only the British residents though )
And one of the acts supporting was Morgan's Oranges. He was really good too, and the name is familiar. Has he posted on here, I wonder?? |

I might take your advice - I've had a look and he's playing in Manchester next week, with Richard James (who used to be in Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and is himself brilliant). _________________ http://www.myspace.com/arhythmicnick |

Kieron!! I saw him play last night for a Simple Folk session. He was playing as part of Saint Eskimo (a duo).
It was absolutely incredible! I'll let you know when it airs. It'll be special. _________________ myspace.com/frozymusic |

You lucky yin, Nic! Can someone record it for me? no broadband still
I've seen Saint Eskimo before - Golden Ghost and VM. So good! Last I heard they were playing each others songs. I think Brendon likes to play Mariah Carey too! I also heard him play I Will Always Love You - can't remember if it was a gig, from a CD, or myspace, but that was so touching and wonderful |

Yeah, they did play a Mariah Carey song. And a Nirvana song. And a Neutral Milk Hotel Song!!! And lots of their own of course.
George Thomas (of George Thomas & The Owls) played organ with them as well (they played one of his songs too ).
They were supposed to play about 25-35 minutes, but ended up playing over an hour because people kept wanting more. I don't know if the whole thing will be aired. I'll try and upload it one day, when I have it. _________________ myspace.com/frozymusic |

Sounds brilliant! An upload would be awesome too
On a related note - I'm listening to Magellan of the Sea by world history. So good, with a voice between viking moses and jeff lewis! |
