Should I buy an acoustic bass? |
Don't be silly - you have enough guitars; you can just take two strings off one of the ones you have! |

Yes, of course! If it's a new instrument, and you can afford it, you should buy it! |

So I saw an acousitc bass in a shop in Edinburgh the other day. I've been thinking about getting one for months, and then I saw one - second hand and £100. Normally they're brand new and well over £200. I haven't had a good look at it yet, but assuming it sounds okay and isn't bent, shall I go for it? |

I sais yes, but make sure it's decent. Acoustic basses are usually pretty expensive (as you said), so £100 seems strange to me. Try playing it a lot before you buy it. But if all is good, go for it!

Well, seeing as I've only had ONE VOTE (pathetic!), looks like I'll go for it. Cheers Nic! :thumb;
And to the rest - shame on you! |

I never bought it in the end. I had a look, and it's actually brand new, from one of those Cash Generators chain pawn shops. The finish was crummy, the battery in the equaliser was flat so I couldn't tune it properly, but had a go with the tuner on my knee. I managed to get the D string tuned, but when I fretted the 12th fret, it became an out-of-tune D. Nevermind. Maybe I'll just save up for a decent one! |

Alas, £100 is not worth spending on something that isn't very good. |
