This is from "Tapes From The Crypt" - originally on "I Am, Of Course, Glad". In this song Jeff sings and plays along with a recording of himself singing and playing so it's a kind of call and response with himself.

Jeff1: I'm the eagle full of wonder.
Jeff2: I'm the imp that lives down under
J1: I like kiddies, I like pups
J2: They're just good for beating up
J1: I want my ex-girlfriend back again
J2: I think all girls are stupid and insane
J1: I worry what people think
J2: I don't care if I'm ugly and I stink

Both: Together we form Jeff (x3)

J1: I'm Jeff's brain and I like math
J2: I'm Jeff's heart I like to laugh
J1: I know life is meaningless
J2: I still think that hope exists
J1: I like thinking and book-reading
J2: I just like drinking(?) and eating
J1: I like learning lots of things
J2: I just want to draw and sing

Both: Together we form Jeff (x3)

J1: I write soft songs full of meaning
J2: I just like yelling and screaming
J1: I'm sensitive, kind and grateful
J2: I'm spiteful, jealous and hateful
J1: I'm transparent and I'm worthless
J2: I'm good looking and a genius
J1: We're different, we're not the same
J2: We're different parts of one big brain

Both: Together we form Jeff (x3)

Hmm, that makes more sense. Those New Yorkers are well into their Freudian psycho-analysis after all.

(Disclaimer: knowledge of New Yorkers entirely derived from Woody Allen films - may not be 100% accurate)

I got "Tapes from the crypt" last week (kudos to OJ for the prompt delivery) and I reckon this is one of my two favourites from it. The other one being "Bite the Bullet (Get a Job)", which I'll try and do the lyrics for soon, although it does go a bit fast.

Seems like digging his old tapes give Jeff the idea of using a player to converse with himself, i mean as he do on history of communism part 4.
