Hey, I was there aswell, and it was amazing! The woman drummer in the second support was brilliant!
Unfortunatly had to go on my own though, grr... but I live next to Kings Cross, so atleast I didn't have to travel far.
It's nice going to gigs alone sometimes, if I drag friends along with me I just spend the whole time worrying that they're not having a good time, so I don't have such a good time.

I went to the windmill gig and it was amazing, he's the complete live act. I had a chat with him after and bought the new album from him. Without sounding like an obsessed fan it was the best gig i have ever been to. |

Hi. Just for the record, Jeff's previous gig that night was in Brixton, South London, rather than Brighton which is about an hour and a half away and it's even beyond Jeff's (or Champion Jim's) capabilities to reach King's X in 20 minutes!
It was a great gig though, especially given that he'd played one shortly before. I think he's at his best with the band format which allows t he full range of his songwriting to come out. Great to see the espanded History of Communism which was very much a work in progress last time I saw it.
A quick intro as I'm new here - I first heard Jeff on John Peel (the long Maida Vale set) and went to see him shortly afterwards at the Water Rats where he played a wonderful set which ended up on the street outside for 25 minutes after the pub had closed. Since then I've seen him regularly when he plays in London and have never been disappointed. I've introduced various people to him now some of whom have become fans too and go to the gigs.
The highspot of his live performances for me, however, was at the Green Man festival this year in Wales where he (and Jack) turned up as a late replacement for Micah P Hinson and proceeded to win the crowd over in a blistering half-hour set. Wonderful to see so many people suddenly turning on to him and the frenzy to buy product from him later at the front of the stage was like watching Koi Carp feed. |
