I've been using a podcast app on my phone and there are so much stuff in there that i can hardly find anything cool.
Lately i've been listening to "Downtown soulville" from WFMU, has some really great vibe and nice songs.
Are you podcast listener?
What would you recommand?

I don't know anything about podcasts other than the ones that everybody else knows... This American Life, The Moth Storytelling, WTF, that stuff.

I got around to listening to Low Profile with Jeffrey Lewis tonight. It was a nice little history lesson of the songs and comic books and it was nice hearing it as a linear thing for me. I’ve been listening to all the different Jeff projects for so long I forget the exact timeline and could never remember the dates of my life and what I was doing. It was nice to hear a bit about the newest recordings too as I haven’t seen them covered much yet. Looking forward to the new projects soon.
Recommended.

I don't remember which one was the Low Profile thing but I usually find myself insufferable when listening back to anything like that, but I guess we all hate to hear our own voices talk on answering machines etc!
I'm not much of a podcast listener, but I've been really enjoying listening to the DJ sets that Ira Kaplan of Yo La Tengo has been doing once a week on WFMU, they are all archived, I love his eclectic music choices and I enjoy hearing him talk.

And I've been listening to all the episodes of "The Toth Zone" which is a memoir podcast by my old buddy James Toth (he performs as Wooden Wand and I've done various tours and gigs with him, I met him in the 90s and his little home-made cassette label put out some of my earliest stuff). I don't know how interesting it would be to people, just hearing him talk about how he got into music and his family and stuff, but I enjoy hearing his friendly voice around my otherwise-empty apartment, and the episodes are pretty short, like 17-20 minutes, so it's not a big ask. I thought episodes 5 and 6 were particularly good, but i started at #1 and I've listened through to about 17 or 18 at this point.

The Low Profile was the one that you posted on Facebook maybe a week or so ago.
Thanks for the recommendations I love something good to get into. I will get around to them.
At the moment I am fascinated by incels and have been autistically researching them. I’m not one but am interested in them so have been listening to lots on that.

I thought incels was just a fancy word for people who aren't currently in relationships? But I guess I should look it up myself since I probably don't know what it means really.

That’s the broadest sense of the word yes, the involuntary celibate. It’s a whole subculture with language of its own. Some of it is very hateful towards women.

I've been enjoying The Anthropocene Reviewed. Soon the book will come out too, with essays in the same style. Episodes are quite short, usually under 25 minutes and they don't come out very often (1/month). It's a nice reflective podcast on any topic pertaining to humans, how they impact the world and how the world impacts them.

This is a great one, reminds me a bit of a Jeffrey lewis history lesson in a way.

Disgraceland is really good. Recently they did a good double episode on Lou reed. Search disgraceland Lou reed on your podcast platform.

Thanks, I'll check it out! A friend recently recommended the podcast "A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs" https://500songs.com/ and the only episode I listened to was a 3+ hours episode on White Light/White Heat, it was good. I was hoping it would literally be 3 hours of delving into that one song, but instead it's a big detailed history of the Velvet Underground and all the influences that came before them, and it's pretty well put together (tho people may already know a lot of the info).

I've been continuing to listen to these History of Rock in 500 Songs podcasts, and the "See Emily Play" episode about Syd Barrett is great, and it includes an early demo snippet of Mathilda Mother that I've never heard about... very interesting. Dav must surely listen to this one!

Sounds good, I have added it to my list and will have a look and see what episode grabs me to listen to first.
Where is Dav? Are you okay mate? Haven’t seen you around here in ages x
