Hi,

My sister and her husband are coming to NYC for the second time in a few weeks, they are planning their visit as good as they can using the internet, mostly.
Jeff, maybe you have some good places advice locations to visit, go, wander that they could go to and that are not well known maybe? Other people advices are, of course, welcome.

Cool!
Well, my usual advice is:
Two of the best museums in NYC, and the world, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Natural History... they are both huge, and great, AND both of them have a "secret" policy that you can "pay what you want" to get in, so you can just give them one dollar, or one penny, anything. It is the best deal in NYC for the best museum at the cheapest price! This is usually confusing to people who visit NYC, because when you go to the museums it says something like "$15 entry", or "$20" or whatever it is, a bit expensive, but in very small letters on some other sign it will say "suggested donation" but most people don't see this part. If you buy the ticket from a machine you will have to pay the full price, but if you buy it from one of the ticket-selling people inside you can give them any amount of money, 2 pennies, etc. Brother Jack actually had this job for some time, selling the museum tickets inside the Metropolitan Museum, collecting the donations!

Another good NYC activity is to take a walk down to Chinatown and Little Italy, two interesting old neighborhoods that are right next to each other, strange little streets, lots of good restaurants, and in Chinatown some of the restaurants are still very cheap, a lot of interesting history and Chinatown is an area of NYC that feels a bit more "old" and "real" because it has very few modern businesses, a lot of small strange shops, things like that.

Also, if the weather is nice, it's really great to walk across one of the bridges between Manhattan and Brooklyn, personally I really like to walk across the Williamsburg Bridge because the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn is cool, hip, lots of cafes, bookstores, record shops, music venues, young people, all of that sort of stuff.

About all that Britain has left to be proud of is that all our museums are free (you pay for certain exhibits but not much). You have to grasp these things, it might not be there at some point in the future.
