Great news, a Saturday night in Glasgow sounds ideal! What's the venue? |

Wharf chambers (Wharfy C to the locals) is my favourite venue of all time to play at or watch a band. Enjoy it. See you in Newcastle! _________________ www.mamalips.bandcamp.com |

There are now advance ticket links up for MOST of these gigs, at
http://www.thejeffreylewissite.com/Upcoming-Shows.html
(I'm still waiting for the ticket links from a few other promoters.)
Apparently 62 tickets have already sold for the Cambridge gig, that's a great immediate response, I wonder if that means the rest will be good sellers too? Or maybe it means all 62 of my fans in Cambridge are fond of booking in advance!
I'm also awaiting additional info about support acts, but I'm definitely excited about the Dec 11 gig in Derby with the Burning Hell and Susie Asado on the bill. HOping I can get Rozi Plain (of This is the Kit) on the bill for the Bournemouth gig but haven't heard back from her. |

I am in the city centre often and have been looking around but no sightings of any promo here yet. I suppose it is a little early considering it's only just gone live but I will have a look and let you know when things crop up x _________________ You don’t put your life into your books. Spotted in Cardiff today - in the window of an independent record shop there was a poster with the all current tickets they have in store to buy for local gigs. This included the gang here. There wasn't anything up about the new album or proper tour posters or anything, or even any Lewis CDs in store, sort it out! I actually really despise the place, as much as I should support it, it's just a hovel where pretentious egos join to feel superior to everyone else. I know that makes me a bad person but I don't give them my money, ever. _________________ You don’t put your life into your books. You find it there. |

I went to the above mentioned independent record shop again today. It's not open on a Sunday but there is a copy of the vinyl in the window. I took a picture but can't post it because it's not online and I am rubbish at having any way of doing that. It hardly matters anyway. But it is there. x _________________ You don’t put your life into your books. You find it there. |

Cool, thanks for spotting that! Really glad it's getting out there. But is it really true that there's no more NME in the UK? Whether or not people like NME magazine, it was at least a reliable way to get word out on a weekly basis about album releases and tour dates and stuff! If there's really no more NME that's going to make the whole UK music scene have a different feeling, won't it?
Can anybody in the UK weigh in on this? |

Do, you know, I have no idea if NME exists! I will find out for you tomorrow. A quick internet search suggests it does still get published every Friday, although from a glance it is no longer focused on any music, let alone the underground scene it once championed. I haven't even thought about it for at least 10 years, and even in my youth didn't buy it thanks to its general pretension and monopoly on what bands it was 'okay and cool' to like and what music made you too uncool even for the weirdos. Scarred me for life.
In the front window of Spillers is always a list of 'out this week' - of course you are on that, I haven't actually been in lately even though I work right by it, again, the level of self righteousness in there makes me feel like I'm on trial. You buy a record and they tell you how cool it is. I'm not interested in being cool or even talking to any of them, I feel under judgement the second I walk in, it's just too much. I don't want to fit in with their idea about what I should wear and think and feel and look like in order to buy something that might even not be for me anyway.
Sorry, feeling sorry for myself tonight, It is so lonely when you don't even fit in with the people you perhaps should do. _________________ You don’t put your life into your books. You find it there. |

I kind of like pissing off cool people in those situations, but I also definitely suffered from a hip to be square complex in grade school, and not playing someone's game still feels like playing someone's game. Still there's some attitude code of conduct in most any establishment except the rare oasis, so maybe triumphantly bucking off the gazes in "cool" places is good practice for resisting the bigger normalizing corporate sort of vibe that are so easy to buckle to in other public spaces. |

Also I think that all of those people who are trying to seem hip are really just as insecure of their coolness as everybody else, but we all have different mechanisms for existing and dealing with ourselves and our interactions. It's nice to feel confident and act confident! But it's just a choice for some people, it seems. Other people will feel intimidated by this! But the people being cool aren't going to care either way, nobody really cares that much about other random people, so it's usually not worth the effort to feel bothered by it! Might as well just not care, and go about your business and be your own cool self, because there are so many things that you do know about and so many experiences that are what make you totally different and special and unique from everybody else! |
