I'm waiting for release date info from Rough Trade, still working out some details with them, and also working on the art for it... |

Out on 30th October then..
I'm looking forward to it, hopefully the release will be accompanied by a full UK tour so that I can get it as well as all the comics and other bits that I've been eyeing on the website for a while.
Any chance of an exclusive peek at the tracklisting or artwork please Mr Lewis? |

Sneak peek at the art!
I know this is too small to see it properly... that's why it's just a "peek"!! Actually, Rough Trade is fighting me because they don't want to do a nice album-package like I've done for the last few Rough Trade releases, because they say that CD sales are a smaller percentage of sales these days so they don't want to spend money on a CD package... But I say that it's important to me to have my artwork be part of the album package, otherwise if it was just going to be a very simple/cheap release I could release it myself! I guess we'll see how the discussion develops... My image of the art/package is that it would be a long fold-out insert, like the 12 Crass Songs CD insert... if I can convince them to print it. I'll try to attach the art to the next message! |

Obviously the tittle make me think of Alan Moore, Alan Moore next movie will be called "his heavy heart" though so it kinda balance the whole thing. _________________ http://uberaffe.bandcamp.com |

THat's cool about the Alan Moore thing, I didn't know that!
But why does this title remind you of Alan Moore? I can't think of the connection, maybe it's something obvious that I just can't think of! |

Love the artwork. From what I can see it looks immense, so many little details and clearly a major undertaking.
I am intrigued about the Manhatten title... is it to do with where it was recorded, or an aspirational thing because that's where rich people live, or something else entirely, I would have said it would have been called Brooklyn if anyone asked me. x _________________ You don’t put your life into your books. I figured I'd call it Manhattan just because it's where I grew up, and where I live... every other band in New York lives in Brooklyn, so it's a somewhat unusual identity these days to be a NYC-based underground/indie musician and NOT live in Brooklyn!
I feel very connected to my Manhattan surroundings, tho it's basically very not-cool... my neighborhood has not been cool for a long, long time, all the cool stuff is in Brooklyn, so it does seem kind of weird to associate anything indie with Manhattan, but that's the weirdness that I like about it. I know that people might misinterpret it as being something about being rich, since it seems so unlikely that a small artist would have an affordable place to live in Manhattan! At this point, there's sort of just me! It's a bit lonely! But some of the songs are sort of about the area here, and that has always been a part of my songs (The East River and Chelsea Hotel and Back When i Was 4 and I Saw A Hippie Girl on 8th Ave, stuff like that, it's all Manhattan-based, because that's where I'd always been!). I guess the albums from City & Eastern to Dream-Songs were a "Brooklyn" period because I was living and writing in Brooklyn in those years... but the past couple years I'm back in the old neighborhood where I grew up. I might as well admit it, with the album title! |
