I'm surprised there wasn't a post on this but the plan it x festival is going on this year - a lot of really big names in folk punk, anti-folk, and folk are playing there (kimya dawson, ghost mice, brook pridemore, pat the bunny / johnny hobo (or whatever he goes by now), defiance ohio, the mountaingoats, andrew jackson jilhad the list goes on and on) so i'm headin down this year with my one buddy. he keeps talking about biking down there, but it's over 13 hours away - and that's driving on interstates, so i doubt that'll happen. I'll probably just sleep in my car if we don't bike.

Anyways, it's only 30 bucks and it's 3 days of music on a horse farm in the middle of indiana (state). Here's the official lineup (so far):

1.ANDREW JACKSON JIHAD (AZ) (folk punk/gloom)
2.ANDREW LIPS (UK) (solo anti-folk)
3.ANTI-SOCIALES (pop punk from puerto rico)
4.BAD BANANA (P.S. ELLIOT SISTERS) (NY) (pop punk)
5.BEST FRIENDS FOREVER (MN) (dance/pop/rock)
6.BROOK PRIDEMORE'S GORY DETAILS (NY) (anti-folk/band)
7.DAVE DEAN'S MUSICAL FORKLIFT (OK) (bass teachings)
8.DAVID DONDERO (CA) (singer songwriter)
9.DEAD DOG (GA) (catchy punk/rock)
10.DEAD FRIENDS (FL) (hard core punk)
11.DEFIANCE, OHIO (IN) (folk punk)
12.DELAY (OH) (pop punk)
13.ERIC AYOTTE (IN) (singer songwriter)
14.FASHANU (UK) (pop punk)
15.FAT SHADOW (members of: DoorKeys AbeFroman PinkRazors)
16.GHOST MICE (IN) (folk punk)
17.GOOD LUCK (IN) (indy pop/rock)
18.HEATHERS (IRELAND) (folk)
19.IMPERIAL CAN (IN) (pop punk)
20.KIMYA DAWSON (WA) (anti-folk)
21.MADELINE (GA) (singer songwriter)
22.MADELINE AVA (TN) (singer songwriter)
23.MATTY POP CHART (IN) (singer songwriter)
24.NANA GRIZOL (GA) (indy pop)
25.ONSIND (UK) (folk punk)
26.PAUL BARIBEAU (IN) (singer songwriter)
27.PINK HOUSES (IN) (grunge)
28.SARA CILANTRO (IN) (singer songwriter)
29.SMALL BONES (LA) (noise punk)
30.SPOONBOY (DC) (folk punk)
31.STREET EATERS (CA) (indy punk)
32.THE MAX LEVINE ENSEMBLE (DC) (pop punk)
33.THE MOUNTAIN GOATS (solo) (NC)
34.THE TAXPAYERS (OR) (folk/pop punk)
35.THE WILD (GA) (pop punk/indy)
36.TOBY FOSTER (IN) (singer songwriter)
37.WATER COLOR PAINTINGS (CA) (brother and sister folk)
38.Ramshackle Glory (x-Wingnut dishwashers union) (AZ)
39.YOUR HEART BREAKS (WA) (indy pop)
40.ZIPPERS TO NOWHERE (newer version of TBIAPB)

I'm not huge on pop punk (it kinda really annoys me to be honest), but there's a lot of great folk for this festival. It's in Bloomington, Indiana, June 24-26, to get tickets the facebook page says to mail an envelope in with 30 dollars (check), your name adress all that junk, and they'll mail one back i guess? It says don't mail yet. Check it out! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=160838750614017 ------ or ------- http://pixfest.hijinx.nu/

Hope to see some of you guys there!

Darren Hanlon played me some recordings by David Dondero and I thought it was really great stuff -
looks like a great lineup!

Damn, missed the ticket sign-up date. It was today. You had to register on their website in the tiny window of opportunity since they were only selling 100 more tickets. I had already told some guy i would play street hockey with him too Sad. I'm considering still going down just because i want to go out west or just out of state in general. I'm definitely going to allgood (http://www.allgoodfestival.com/artists) this year though. Jam bands are always neat to see and it's on the top of some mountain in west virginia. Real big event, furthur (Phil Lesh & Bob Weir) are playing and so is primus / les claypool, keller williams (who i think is pretty neat), and a lot of cool bands. I'm just looking forward to camping out for a few days and catch some sweet music. Definitely would want to go to plan it x, but i had to work today. Oh well Rolling Eyes

Does anyone else have any plans for festivals this summer? Very Happy

almost surprised someone is posting about p-i-x here, but i'll be there! great line up and only 49 days away. lately chirs clavin (p-i-x founder/owner also of ghost mice, opp: cc, imperial can, etc) has been working his butt of getting everything set up. but he's not too busy to take kyle hall (great 15 year old singer songwriter from a Chicago suburb) on his first tour during his high school's spring break. great, huh?

sweet glad to hear it. I was never a huge pat the bunny fan but some of his stuff is ok.

Also, anyone in the northwest area looking for a ride / transportation, look into taking a megabus. If you book a couple months in advance (like now) it only costs a dollar for the whole trip. It'll only cost me $3 to get from pittsburgh to Indianapolis, and that's on two different fares (pittsburgh - columbus, columbus - indy). I might hitchhike down from indy to bloomington, not sure yet. I just dont really wanna pay however much it costs for a shuttle between the two cities. If not, I might bike instead. Either way, I'm pumped. Hopefully I'll be able to get in somehow (or sneak in Wink)

Kyle hall is a really great writer www.kylehall.bandcamp.com in fact i made a comic about this trip, its 24 pages or so.

Certainly an amazing lineup! Wish I'd been there.
I'm playing with Andrew Jackson Jihad in Brooklyn on Saturday actually!
