And boy, is it fucked. I visited NYC for the first time in my adult life a week or so ago and was on the L train line. Every evening and on the weekend it was down and it made everything such a pain in the ass.

I can't complain too much though, it was a hell of a trip. But this song made me smile more than it usually would have.

It's like the last time I saw JL in the UK and he played a song about British motorways. Instant classic!

Hope all are well.

Real cool song!
The comments for the song are so lame.

All I hear about the NY subway these days is that 'man spreading' is illegal and how Britain should follow suit.

Ha, that's a funny thing to be hearing about, far away from New York!

I know, the general feeling seems to be that seats on public transport should be made bigger, after all, we're all obese anyway these days. I just didn't realise it was an issue, no one has ever put their knee in my way, and a law seems pretty nanny state! Like the kind of thing our government would do....

I'd never experienced man-spreading before... not really ever seen it. But then I'm lucky I live in a smaller city where you can walk pretty much everywhere – I'm only like 15 minutes walk from work... but then the other day I was at a comedy show and the guy sat next to me had a full on man-spread for the entire show. I don't understand.

Though it sounds like a waste of bureaucracy (is that an oxymoron) to make something like that illegal.

It is unnecessary to make it illegal, there are bigger problems that are legal to deal with first at least! I personally have not been a victim of it as yet, I don't use public transport a lot anyway but hopefully things will continue this way. Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience. I wouldn't say anything myself but I don't think it's unacceptable to ask them to move a bit. x

Are you guys referring to men taking up too much space? Because this is all about that :

That's exactly it andylips. I don't know where you are, but in America it's been made illegal to do on this train, over in the UK they are considering it. I'm not so bothered, most of the people on that tumblr are not getting in anyone elses way, the ones that are should be more considerate though! x

I'm UK based. I think its good its being put a stop too (though I'm sure it will continue) its totally male privilege, men dominating a space and taking up as much of that space as possible. It sucks.

I agree, I know it will be awful to be the person who has to enforce it 'Ummm, close your legs or I will have to fine you £75' on a packed train with a lot of stressed out people doesn't sound like a great job to do.
