Lots of people played at the Lou Reed tribute show we had tonight at Jalopy in Brooklyn...
Some of the best parts were:
The Purple Organ doing "Black Angel's Death Song"
Lee Feldman doing "Doing the Things That We Want To"
Peter Stampfel doing "Cremation" and telling a story about the Holy Modal Rounders playing a gig with the Velvet Underground in Boston in 1969
Turner Cody doing "Endless Cycle"
Too much to list, I'm going to forget stuff, anyway it was mostly pretty great. |

I'm glad it went well. Were you raising money for a charity or anything, or just to tribute Lou? x _________________ You don’t put your life into your books. You find it there. |

The money from the door all went to Oxfam for a relief fund for victims of the recent typhoon in the Phillipines, not sure yet how much was raised but it was a pretty well-attended night, all the seats full and people standing in the back too. Small venue, but still, a nice turnout. |

That's kind, I'm glad you managed to get some funds together for those poor people. I didn't know if LR himself was part of any kind of charity work that you were going to be part of, I don't know what he supported.
You are good people for organising it and getting it to work and making all that effort.

AND tonight (Sunday) I was part of ANOTHER Lou Reed tribute show! This one was a lot more fancy, more "famous" sorts of people. It was really crowded, sold out, they wouldn't even let me into the room because it was too crowded! I played in a small room upstairs. THen later in the evening they let me go downstairs because it got less crowded. I saw Tunde from TV on the Radio do a cool version of "Satellite of Love" and Kirin J Callinan did a great version of "The Gun" (I played with him at Visions Festival in London last August, he's from Australia, I thought he was really great at Visions). |

At least no one can say his passing has not been noted and acknowledged x _________________ You don’t put your life into your books. You find it there. |
