I forgot who it was that recommended the Rainbow Ffolly album, 60s psych band, I couldn't find a legal download anywhere so I admit I recently snagged it free from a blog.
Pretty good album!
A bit on the "pop psych" side for my usual tastes, but definitely good.
Actually I do like a lot of "pop psych" but not the UK stuff, usually just the US stuff (Strawberry Alarm Clock, Lemon Pipers, etc). For some reason a lot of UK psychedelic pop stuff is way more annoying to me, though of course I love Syd Barrett/Pink Floyd, Pretty Things, Tyrannosaurus Rex and others. But many famous UK psych bands like Tomorrow and Blossom Toes and John's Children and The Deviants and The Creation etc etc are almost always pretty disappointing to me compared to their US equivalents. The UK has great psych-FOLK bands of course, but that's a different story!
Also, the UK/Europe "Nuggets" box set is not nearly half as good as the USA "Nuggets" box set! Though still pretty good... I don't know why the UK bands just don't quite do it for me in the same way as the US bands most of the time, in that era.
ANYWAY, Rainbow Ffolly, pretty good and nicely weird UK album. Listened to it a number of times now. Thanks for the recommendation! |
