A quarter of the budget spent on food - I love it.

The rotoscoping is great idea that would suit it quite well I think.

It didn't even occur to me that it was filmed at Jeff's but you're right, I recognise the album covers on the wall from the pictures in an interview once. yep nice place

Here's the video-- one of the most intriguing videos and songs I've ever seen. They did a great job, of course, thanks to Jeff's unique art and songwriting. A lot to think about.

Got some cheeky album artwork in there too - btw, how does that place manage to do $99 music videos? That's just simply crazy, I wish someone would do that over in the UK - I'd love to make a music video that cheap.

I suppose at the end of the day you just need a camera but editing and everything with it is really cool for $99.

That was a great video! Kudos to Jeff and everyone involved!

The song was recorded absolutely perfectly as well. It also makes me really happy about the production. I haven't listened to the album yet, and I'm glad to see that at least this song is not so filled with instruments like a second 12 Crass Songs-- it's got Jeff and the guitar, and some perfectly placed xylophone (or glock?)

Does anybody think it would be a relief to be objectified? What does this mean? Like a stuffed owl? Have your picture taken?

yeah. I'm really bad at expressing things, but sometimes you just think that it would be so comforting to say you're the same type of thing as a boat or a rock. Because even if we're walking around and having thoughts and a consciousness, we're really just an object made of bones etc., but we can't really realize this since we are the consciousnesses. So Jeff is saying (I think) that it would be nice to be able to see ourselves this way an outsider views simple objects because it relieves you of will and responsibility and lets you just "be", and then he muses about taking pictures to show ourselves as objects and not blaming people because they're just unmanned boats.

An intelligent explanation of a bizarre concept. Why would anyone want to be relieved of will and responsibility and be an object? That's death.

a lot of people (me included) believe that the concept of free will as it is commonly percieved is nothing more than an illusion. our actions are all determined, much in the same way a boat floats on the water and is moved by the action of waves, currents and wind. so persoanlly i don't think that a lack of will equates to death at all... not sure if this is what jeff was thinking, and erm, i haven't heard much of the new stuff to make an informed judgment Rolling Eyes

i'd prefer to just buy the record on its release

Well, I guess you didn't have any choice but to write that.
This psych study shows that denying free will and responsibility is good excuse for doing whatever you want and avoid the blame. But will it hold up in court?

ntil recently, however, there was no empirical support whatsoever for this pessimism about a widespread denial of free will. Then came the 2008 study by Volhs and Schooler in Psychological Science—a study that was pounced upon by the popular press. (See here for one example.) Briefly, the authors gave two groups tasks which featured opportunities to cheat, including one where they could pocket some extra money for doing so. The first group was given an excerpt from Francis Crick’s The Astonishing Hypothesis which stated that scientists had denounced the notion of free will. The control group read another excerpt that did not refer to free will. The subjects in the first group were more likely to cheat on their tasks. The authors end their paper by asking: “Does the belief that forces outside the self determine behavior drain the motivation to resist the temptation to cheat, inducing a “why bother” mentality?...Or perhaps denying free will simply provides the ultimate excuse to behave as one likes.”
