I'm judging you, immensly. Patience is a virtue......and evidently one that you all lack!
Of course, I'm not really allowed to say that; I was given a sneaky peak by Jeff while I was with him in NYC. Only like 1 track though! _________________ "The last time i met Jeffrey Lewis i went insane" |

Loved it.
Doesn't change that I'll be buying it the first day of release.
I cracked, don't judge me. |
if anything, we should admire you for the light that shines through.
as for me, though, I can't bear to pre-listen to Jeff's new songs. at least not right now. in a week, I might be a little more starved. |

The production is in no way as concise as C&E songs, but I like it because it's less uniform, more variances and it just generally feels like more of a "band" record. Would have liked a bit more Jack, but the Jack song on there is so so so so good, and it is after all a Jeffrey Lewis record.
Favourite song hands down on there for me is Slogans, but I love Broken Broken Broken Heart simply for the sound they've gone for.
Was a little disappointed with If Life Exists - I've heard it played in more fun incarnations, but still a great song of course.
Overall it's just an awesome set of songs, the definition of a really good record. |

Well Broken Heart was so new I suppose that was a surprise that is was on there - especially in such huge band form - incidentally not Dave playing either - the guy's name slips my mind - John something? He played some guitar on 12 Crass Songs.
Jack's song I wasn't expecting - I heard it on the Professor Louie split single ages ago - it sounds so good on the record.
And this record feels more in two parts than any other - the second half is a little more chilled out in places.
Someone should put a spoiler alert on this post |

Yeah you poor thing....
Seriously though, I spoke to Jeff and he couldn't believe how quickly the sneaker shoved it onto a torrent website.
I mean seriously, have you NO integrity? _________________ "The last time i met Jeffrey Lewis i went insane" |

It was probably someone at Rough Trade Industry trick innit.
I suppose it's the way things go, people need the music in their hands 2-3 months before it's released in order to give it adequate promo before it's out, but then people are annoying and sneaky so it'll get leaked, I hate catch 22's.
Although saying that - I wouldn't say it was leaked that quickly - I had it about a month before the leak and Rough Trade have had it since before January. |
