Let's start a thread dealing with speculation and discussion on Jeff and the band's upcoming record. I, for one, wonder when this will be available for pre-order. Do you think it will be more like City And Eastern Songs or the last time I did acid..? etc...

Geez May 5th! I thought it was March, I'm not sure why...
I have been sifting around looking for that music video for "To Be Objectified lately to no avail. _________________ "It's all easier said than done and it's not even easy to say." |

I have a sneaking suspicion it may be the most produced-sounding album he's put out so far,
What does everyone think of the title? _________________ "The last time i met Jeffrey Lewis i went insane" |

that does seem to be the trend but its never been an issue for me, city and eastern songs was highly produced compared to the last time I did acid... but still retained its honesty. I almost think it would be a bit of a lie if jeff was to produce an album that sounded like his first album now, (as much I I love it) the more refined sound reflects how the band have grown live, they are polished proformers now that play their songs hundreds of times a year, constantly tweaking and reinventing them to get the perfect result and to keep it fresh and fun for them to play for us.
Also except for 12 crass songs, the band have always toured with the songs and honed then in this way in front of live audiences before laying them down on an album often experimenting live on stage with people bringing in different instruments (ukulele, violin etc) on tracks so to strip the album back and record it with out these embelishments would provide an almost uncomfortable juxtaposition with the live sound.
All this being said I am really talking about the level of production value that has been afforded of Jeffs albums to date, it would be equally uncomfortable to have a producer come in and leave 'Em are I sounding like the latest release by the pet shop boys!
Long story short, I trust the boys (and girl now) ,I've never been disapointed with their albums to date so Im excited to hear their latest offering!
As for the name, it's a fun ittle play on words, don't know if theres ment to be any more meaning to it than that, but then I never noticed that City and Eastern songs was a play on country and western! was that obvious to everyone else? _________________

The title makes a lot more sense once you've seen the artwork.
Which I feel shoud give everybody more incentive to buy the CD as opposed to downloading it.....*hint* _________________ "The last time i met Jeffrey Lewis i went insane" |

how about:
'em are i
or M.R.I
a scanner for looking inside people, such as the inner workings of the brain. maybe it's all to do with the confessional nature of jeff's songs and getting his deepest mental processes out into song. i guess everyone figured that already? i never spotted city and eastern/country and western until someone else pointed it out! |

01 Slogans
02 Roll Bus Roll
03 If Life Exists
04 Broken Broken Broken Heart
05 Whistle Past The Graveyard
06 To Be Objectified
07 The Upside Down Cross
08 Bugs & FLowers
09 Good Old Pig, Gone To Avalon
10 It's Not Impossible
11 Mini Theme Moocher From The Future
I just found the tracklist in the form of the album for download on a torrent site (I'll name no names) and I'm not sure if I want to indulge...
I was really bent on hearing this for the first time on vinyl, but this is tempting...
I'm going to just go play some guitar for now and cool off from all this computerizing. _________________ "It's all easier said than done and it's not even easy to say." |

Somebody gets a gold star.... I think Jeff was a little worried that he hadn't come up with a very good title, and that perhaps people might not get the pun. _________________ "The last time i met Jeffrey Lewis i went insane" |

Heard it.
Loved it.
Doesn't change that I'll be buying it the first day of release.
I cracked, don't judge me. _________________ myspace.com/frozymusic |
