helllo.
my music collection is getting a bit stagnent. im looking for some awesome lo fi folk, or singer song-writer albums.
anything good anyone can suggest?

Anti-folk stalwart Toby Goodshank is always worth a listen. He's one of the nicest guys around too.
Bit more dangerous and snarly - Hamell on Trial. Angry and funny as hell.
Phoebe Kreutz is possibly the funniest songwriter around IMHO. She has such a way with what used to be called feminine rhymes (always was a sexist term!).
Rachel Lipson writes lovely songs in an anti-folk kinda way.
Diane Cluck is amaaaazing. Other-worldly and strangely moving.
Um. None of these are especially new. They might be new to you though.
I second the James Yorkston shout - he's a bit more trad than the above, but he's amazingly skilled. And British to boot.
Others? M. Ward? Vic Chesnutt? Jason Molina? |

Ive heard some diane cluck, shes very good. the song 'the river' she did with jeffrey lewis is pretty neat.
Thanks for the suggestions.
i do like the odd a bit more than the traditional.
